The Mango Tree restaurant in Bangkok is in the Silom area, it’s got a really nice water fountain and little bar when you first enter and the aura at Mango Tree is wonderful, sitting outside on a nice evening enjoying some famous dishes from all across Thailand, while sipping on ice cold beers.

The Mango Tree has been serving Thai foods for over 10 years, with inspiration from it’s owner Phithaya Phanphensophon, that every guest will be treated as if they are coming into you’re own home, what a great goal for a restaurant to have! I love it!!!

Their recommended dishes include Po Tuon, Yam Som-O, Shrimp Pad Thai, and Choo Chee Goong Nang and have some great cocktails also

The Menu: The menu has a TON of Thai dishes from all over Thailand, if you love thai food then you will definately love looking through the Mango Tree menu. You can see their entire menu here
What I Ate:
The Staff: The waiter at Mango Tree understood English fine, we had no problems communicating
The Bathroom: They are really tiny, but somewhat decent

Silom Fest 2010 was packed!

January 18, 2010

Sunday, January 17th on Silom Road they had Silom Fest 2010, it was jam packed full of people to enjoy the food, shopping, bands, and they even had a Thai Boxing match.

I arrived around 3pm and Silom Road was already totally packed full of people enjoying the food vendors and the tons of Bangkok Restaurants had little tents setup representing their place and selling their favorite dishes, some of those there were Sweet Basil, Bussaracum, Coyote Bar & Grill, Edoya Restaurant, Botantei Japanese Tapas Restaurant, and many many more, also many ethnic thai food stands too, and tons of Chang beer stands selling beers for only 25 baht, that kept us happy!

If you’re wandering around Central World with an empty tummy I would highly advise you stop and try Triple-O’s famous burgers, they are big juicy and wonderful! All their burgers are made with 100% pure beef patties. They even have a breakfast menu! And another perk about eating in CW in general is that you can enjoy your meal while surfing the net, they have Wifi available!

The Menu: They have a breakfast menu, and a lot of big burger combo meals, and even a veggie burger combo for you wonderful vegetarians (I salute you!)
What I Ate: I eat the Triple O’s original burger combo (200 baht, approx $6 US) which was delicious, topped with famous Triple “O” sauce, lettuce, and tomoato, comes with french fries and a 12oz coke, mmm, I was actually heading there today! LOL
The Staff: The staff in my many visits to Triple O’s was great, friendly and spoke a tiny bit of English
The Bathroom: Triple O’s is inside Central World, so you’ll need to use the public restrooms there, which are always big and kept very clean

Conclusion:
Extras: Wifi available in Central World
Fun Fact: The first Triple O’s was opened in downtown Vancouver in 1995. Now there are 44 in Canada, 5 in Hong Kong and one in Bangkok.

Small getaway to Pattaya Thailand last weekend

January 6, 2010

“Last week I was bored and decided to go with a few BKK girlfriends to Pattaya, Thailand for the weekend. We stayed in a pretty nice new hotel called Mantra Pura Resort in North Pattaya, Naklua area.
We were in the 1 bedroom suite, which is great, they have GREAT sauna, decent steam, good gym, nice pool, very nice hot tub, free internet and free breakfast (we did not have the breakfast at all, as we were out all night partying on Walking Street in Insomnia and Lucifer nightclubs hehe)

Just thought I’d let you know, about this resort in case you ever go there 🙂 ”

From Hanz F. (Germany)

First off, Thanks Hanz for your tip about Pattaya, I’ve been there many times but haven’t yet stayed there, it looks beautiful and I found the website here http://www.mantrapuraresort.com I’ll definately give it a try, probably on my next trip to Pattaya 🙂

And also, for those that don’t know, Club Insomnia (website http://www.clubinsomniapattaya.com) is a HUGE nightclub right on walking street, very big place, always tons of people, good times, and open late, and they even have a VIP section, you go upstairs, can have more space up there on couches, and get a free hat or shirt
